A true powerhouse for the mobile worker who wants to use an existing external WiFI or no WiFi at all. The Peplink Pepwave Max BR1 ENT "FirstNet" Edition is Peplink's CAT 12 Cellular Router Solution. While this unit does not have integrated WiFi, it packs a lot of features in that you would otherwise not get with integrated WiFi models. CAT-12 brings your max theoretical cellular throughput up to 600mbps download/100mbps upload which in theory is double that of the CAT 6 predecessors. While these numbers are not realistic in practical applications, the CAT 12 modem will allow more simultaneous connections to the cellular tower which typically translates to faster speeds. Additional supported LTE bands as well as additional coverage options with Band 14 support (see below under FirstNet) are an added plus.
Additional Features
The Max BR1 ENT Firstnet was designed to act as a traditional mobile router managing your WAN connections. While it does not have integrated WiFI, it does has some features you will not find in the BR1 MK2 or Transit Series. An integrated USB port will allow you to tether a second cellular modem such as a Verizon 8800 or Netgear Nighthawk allowing for mutli-wan cellular configurations. The MAX BR1 ENT FirstNet also has the ability to provide Power Over Ethernet (PoE) to its 2-3 LAN Ports. The 3rd WAN/LAN port can be configured to manage a wired internet connection in WAN mode or it can be utilized as a third LAN switch port in LAN mode.
The Basics/How it Works
The MAX BR1 ENT FirstNet is a mobile internet solution for travelers who are looking to use Cellular data as their primary mode of staying connected. The Transit Duo accepts sim cards directly into its build in cellular modem that is compatible with AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon and international carriers. The MAX BR1 ENT FirstNet has 2 sim slots allowing you to load this router with multiple sim cards from multiple carriers allowing you to select which sim/carrier is in use by the modem. If wireless is something you want to add then you can pair the BR1 ENT with Pepwave's PoE compatible AP One Wireless Access Point to add powerful dual band AC 2.4/5.8ghz wifi. Additional wireless models are also available. Contact us at [email protected] for more information.
The units highly customizable web interface supports a variety of advanced routing features and will satisfy the needs of advanced users while being extremely easy to use for the non-tech users as well. The unit accepts 12v inputs (bare wire screw down terminals) or you can use the included AC adapter for 110v installation.
FirstNet
The MAX BR1 ENT FirstNet features an embedded CAT-12 Cellular modem that is firstNet ready. FirstNet is the nationwide public safety communications platform dedicated to Americaís first responders. Being built with AT&T, in public-private partnership with the FirstNet Authority, FirstNet utilizes band-14, which is reserved for public safety but is also being marketed as available to the public for additional bandwidth capacity. In theory, band 14 support for AT&T customers can provide additional coverage in more rural areas and additional speed as well and CAT-12 modems also bring additional band support for other carriers as well.
